Denny Cole, MacDill Base Historian

Denny Cole

Denny Cole is a local Military Aviation Historian. His lifelong interest in aviation and technology followed him with his assignment to MacDill AFB in 1974. MacDill’s flight line became home, it didn’t take long before he began to seek the history of the base. By the mid-1980’s, he was an F-16 Weapons System Instructor at MacDill. He was often called upon by the MacDill Public Affairs Office to represent the base making community presentations at local schools.

Retiring from Active Duty in 1994 as a Master Instructor, he returned to civilian life, sharing his enthusiasm for anything aviation and a refocusing on local Military Aviation history. He is now a retired USAF Msgt with 15 of his 20 year Air Force career spent right here at MacDill. He can usually be found around aviation related events, especially those involving youth and veterans. He puts together the MacDill history display in the hangar during the Biennial MacDill AIRFEST.
